Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a set of steps that anyone can learn to help save the life of someone whose heart has suddenly stopped pumping blood. Brain cells start to die within minutes of the heart stopping so rapid intervention is essential. A victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) has the best chance of survival when a citizen starts CPR immediately and a shock is rapidly provided by using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
All of our first aid and CPR courses include the basics of using an AED and basic procedures to clear the airway of a choking victim. We encourage responders on first aid teams or who have a defibrillator available to take our AED Basic Responder or AED Advanced Responder program.
