WSIB REGULATION 1101 APPROVED FIRST AID TRAINING
The Workplace Insurance and Safety Board (WSIB) is responsible for First Aid training programs in Ontario. WSIB regulations call for two certification levels: Emergency or Standard First Aid. Both levels include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Regulation 1101 (8) requires Emergency First Aid, CPR/AED for workplaces with five or fewer workers on a shift at a place of employment. This course deals primarily with life-threatening medical emergencies including cardiac arrest, bleeding, allergies and more.
Security Guards are required, by the ministry of the attorney general, to have, as a minimum, Emergency First, CPR/AED for their security license.
Emergency First Aid is available in the blended format, which means that the ‘theory’ portion is an on-line course (about 3 hours) and a practical, in-person session (about 4 hours).
Emergmart highly recommends taking Standard First Aid, CPR/AED for their security license as well as First Aiders in workplaces with five or fewer workers.
Regulation 1108 (9) (10) requires Standard First Aid, CPR/AED for workplaces with more than five workers on a shift at a place of employment. This course includes everything taught in the Emergency course plus many additional and important topics such as poisoning, environmental injuries and more.
Standard First Aid, CPR/AED is required for most workplaces as well as daycare workers, personal support workers, entrance to most college and university courses, lifeguarding, fire, police and paramedic programs and more.
